Pitman Arm is an important component in a vehicle’s steering system.
🔹 What it does:
It connects the steering gearbox (or steering box) to the center/drag link.
When you rotate the steering wheel, the gearbox turns the Pitman Arm.
The Pitman Arm then transfers this rotational movement into linear motion, moving the steering linkage and ultimately turning the vehicle’s wheels.
🔹 Key Features:
Strong, forged metal construction (to handle heavy loads).
Mounted on the steering gearbox sector shaft.
Works together with the idler arm, center link, and tie rods.
🔹 Common Issues:
Worn out or loose Pitman Arms can cause loose steering, excessive play in the steering wheel, and uneven tire wear.
Replacement is necessary if it develops too much free play.
